How do I connect an av receiver to my tv?

Need to connect AV receiver to TV about 60 ft away - is HDMI or Component better for longer distances?

  When you look at cable prices you may want to move either the TV or A/V reciever. Technically, component is the better choice because it will work out to several hundred feet, BUT most hardware limits it to 1080p, and sooner or later the Hollywood paranoia about preventing theft of HD digital programming will mean that component either won't work at all for HD or will be down rezzed to sub HD resolution. Straight HDMI CAN work at distances to over 100 ft (See the 1st link) but -- as mentioned above -- cables that will support that kind of distance are expensive ((2nd link) $160 from a 60ft Blue Jeans cable (same type will work out to 100ft), or (3rd link) $190 for an amplified 25m cable Tru-Reference (same type will work out to 200 ft). To put a positive spin on these options, both are a fraction of the cost of the longest HDMI Monster Cable sold --- which wouldn't work at that distance. Hope this helps.
