Can I hook 2 speakers to one terminal (channel) in an amp?

I want to hook 2 or more small speakers up to each of the terminals in an amp

Answer:
It depends on the capabilities of the amplifier and the impedance of the speakers. With some combinations it will be perfectly acceptable and with others it will lead to the destruction of the amplifier. For instance, one of my power amplifiers is stable to 2 Ohm loads. I could safely wire four 8 Ohm speakers in parallel to it. But another of my amplifiers will only accept 8 to 16 Ohm loads. Wiring just two 8 Ohm speakers to it would destroy an output device. So; you need to check both the speaker output tolerance of your amplifier and the impedance of your speakers. If it will not tolerate an impedance that would be present with the two speakers wired in parallel you could wire them in a series. Here is an explanation of the principals and techniques I have described: http://www.bcae1.com/spkrmlti.htm http://www.prestonelectronics.com/audio/Impedance.htm Some might say that using more then one full range speaker per channel is inadvisable unless it is used to spread sound into areas where a single speaker would not be able. But there actually are some advantages, particularly if the room in which they are used is large. I don't know the particular conditions under which you are using your sound system so I won't make a judgment on that.

You probably can't--at least not for long. The low impedance will probably fry the amp. If it could handle extra speakers, the amp would have the terminals to connect them.

Yes and No. This will depend on the total resistance of both speakers, and the capability of the amp you are connecting the speakers to. It is not recommended you connect 2 set of speakers in one speaker terminal. You have to check the amplifier rating for speaker load 4 to 8 OHMs or just 8 ohm), combining both speakers with a load resistance of 4 ohm will have a 2 ohm load. Hope this will help you out.

yes, but for example you hook 2 speakers on the front right channel. both speaker will work as front right.

yeah you can ive done it with subs in my car
If you have the correct impedance speakers...they will run at 2ohms.
