No sound from my receiver?

No audio sound on my tv/receiver?

  • Help, I’m very new to this new technology, I cannot figure out why I’m not getting audio on my tv (satellite) from my receiver, but I’m getting it thru my blu-ray just fine?? Here is why I have: TV is a Sharp 19" Class 720p 60Hz LCD HDTV, LC19SB27UT Receiver is a Yamaha RXV467BL Home Theater Receiver - 5.1 Channel, 1080p Compatible, 4 HDMI Out, 3D-Ready, 525 Watt Blu-ray is a Panasonic - 3D Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-ray Player Model: DMPBDT210 I have 2 HDMI cables, only one HDMI port on my TV & Blu-ray and I have 5 on my Yahama Receiver (1 in/4 out) Now, I have an HDMI cable from my TV to my receiver, then I have an HDMI cable from my blu-ray to my receiver. Then I have my RCA plugs plugged in and also my component cables are plugged in. Then of course I have my 105 watt speakers set up. Now what am I missing? How should these all be plugged in and exactly where, my receiver has so much going on in the back. I was told I don’t need an optical cable but I have a feeling I do need one. Any advice would be great!

  • Answer:

Connect HDMI from Blu-ray player to receiver then another HDMI from receiver to TV for video. You have to connect optical cable or red & white cables from cable box or TV to receiver for TV channel audio.

Other answers

Start over. Connect the blu ray player & satellite receivers to hdmi inputs on your AV receiver. Run a third HDMI cable from the hdmi output on the AV receiver to the TV's hdmi input.
