What is a good, cheap-ish surround sound solution on PS3 for a bedroom?
-
Hi, I wanted to get surround sound on my PS3 for my bedroom, I have a VIZIO 26-inch LED/LCD 1080p HDTV (dunno if any of that specific stuff matters, but I figured it's better to have it and not need it) and a "phat" 80gb PS3 model. I'm looking for more sound quality than loud volume, I just want to be able to hear it. I don't need it to be blaring, but I've heard that surround sound can make the dialogue louder than the other stuff in movies and games, so that's what I really want. As well, I want to be able to hear everything in a game, and sadly the speakers on my HDTV don't cut it as far as overall quality. I'd prefer to keep it under the $200 price range, but if that's not possible (sadly I know little to nothing about surround sound and stuff, I don't really know what's good and what's bad which is why I'm asking) then that's fine. I'd prefer to get a "sound bar" if possible, because there literally is NO ROOM in my bedroom for speakers, so even if it won't be as good as speakers, I'd much rather have the sound bar or just something simple. I only have a PS3 hooked up to my TV, so that's the only concern right now. Eventually a DVR and (when it releases) a Wii U will be added to it, so yeah. Thanks a lot to anyone who took the time to read this, if you need additional info just ask and I'll add it as soon as I can. Thanks again!

Answer:
You could look into the sound bar made for ps3 which costs 200$, it's called "PS3 Surround Sound System", that is on amazon, or check the "Sony HT-CT150 3D Surround System" since that is 216$ on amazon and comes with a subwoofer for all the awesome explosions ingame Other alternatives would be getting gaming headphones such as Astro's, Turtlebeaches, or the new stereo surround headphones coming out on sept. 6th made from sony which also comes with a retractable mic In the future when you get a bigger room and are looking for surround sound 5.1 or 7.1 NEVER get Bose because those are extremely overpriced and sound decent Also check on the back of your tv if there is an optical output which is the main cord to go into the sound bars

Yard sales and thrift stores and pawn shops and an open mind. I've seen Dolby Digital AV receivers for under $50. Various decent quality minispeakers for as little as $6 a pair. And I found a working subwoofer dumped in the woods. Last weekend I saw a complete home theater system (Panasonic?) with upgraded speakers at a yard sale; the guy wanted about $50. No sense buying new junk when there's good old stuff to be reused for less money. It helps if you can tell "white van" speakers from name brand stuff. And beware of old speakers where the surround (rubbery ring that seals between the cone and frame) has rotted. And avoid AV receivers that only do Dolby Surround or ProLogic, not Dolby Digital. They'll be better than nothing, but don't pay much more than nothing for one.
