How do I get my Sony Bravia to use optical for audio?

• I have a Sony Bravia KDL-46NX800 and a Panasonic home theater SA-BT300. I have a optical cable hooked up from the TV to the HTS. On the home theater, it always switches to AUX instead of Digital In automatically. Even if I'm on digital in already, when I switch to theater mode on the TV, it switches back to AUX. Kind of annoying and I haven't been able to figure out why it automatically switches to AUX, since I don't have any cables hooked up to the AUX in on the HTS. I'm pretty sure the TV is sending the command to turn the HTS to AUX, because when I try to use one of the installed apps like Netflix or Hulu, it switches to AUX. Anyone know how to configure the TV to switch to digital in, instead of AUX automatically?

  Try reading the user manual for your home theater receiver. With most systems, you have to assign the digital input to a function (like AUX, CD, TV, etc.) Its entirely possible that AUX is the default assignment, or that you unknowingly made that assignment when you originally set it up. On my Onkyo receiver, I have the digital in assigned to cd/TV. Are you getting sound when it switches to AUX? If so, then its working, because you said you don't have anything connected to the AUX input jacks.
