How to hook up cable TV?

How do i hook up multiple units to my TV and sound bar with cable box?

• I am hooking up a 47" LG LED TV to a Phillips soundbar/dvd player, through a Comcast Cable box, the sound bar has one hdmi, the comcast cable box has one hdmi, and the tv has 4. Im also wanting to hook up my Wii and PS3. I want the sound to come through the soundbar at all times (i.e. Wii, PS3, Cable box, DVD etc) I was thinking of HDMI Cable box to TV, HDMI sound bar to TV, HDMI PS3 to TV, Wii Cables to TV...but im not sure this will work as intended. Any help would be appreciated.

  No, it won't work. The HDMI ports on the back of TV's are "inputs". You can hook-up DVD's, cable/satellite boxes, PS3's, etc. via HDMI to your TV with no problem. But there is no HDMI output from the TV to go to the sound bar. You have to use an alternate method to hook up the TV to the soundbar. If your soundbar has a digital input (optical or coaxial), use the TV's digital audio output to hook it up to the soundbar. All other equipment (cable box, ps3, dvd, etc) can get hooked up to the TV via HDMI. This will provide you with the best sound. HDMI sound is the same as digital audio (optical or coaxial). HDMI does offer Dolby True HD which regular digital audio can't, but this won't matter in your set-up as soundbars are not capable of Dolby True HD anyways (and only through select blue ray discs). Edit - Response to your additional details: You got it right! Just get an optical cable and hook it up to your TV's "optical output" to your soundbar's "optical input". Everything else gets hooked up via HDMI directly to your TV. It's ok to use wii cables (instead of HDMI) to your TV.
