What can I do to save my sound system?

Can anyone recommend a cheap sound system to be used in conjunction with a HDTV?

  • I have found a very cheap HDTV that has all the bells and whistles but upon reading the reviews it is said that it has an appalling sound quality. That being said I'm looking for a sound system to use with the TV so that will save me more money than if I was to buy a more expensive TV with great sound. Can anyone recommend me a good set-up please?

  • Answer:

Asda 5.1 only £24.95. I have 50" plasma and it works beautifully with my tv.

My father in law bought a HDTV that had horrible sound. It was very tinny and wouldn't turn up very loud. He had trouble understanding the dialog on it. We purchase a Philips MC235B (link below) for $70 and hooked it up to the audio out on his cable box and it works great. The sound quality and volume are both much better. You just have to make sure the stereo has audio in (usually RCA) and that your source had audio out.

Walmart is the best for cheap HT systems ($100-$300); however, depends on what you want to do. These systems aren't good if you have DVD, Cable, Gaming, etc in the same TV. In that case you'll want to get an Onkyo or Yamaha system with HDMI in and out ($300-$1000)
