I have a laptop with vga and hdmi output and a tv with only component input. How can I connect the two?
-
So I live in a dorm and as of right now I don't have a tv. I would like to bring my 36" from home, but if I can't hook it up as my monitor there is no need for it. So what would be the most efficient set up to allow me to use my tv as a monitor with fairly good quality. Thanks!

Answer:
You're going to have to use an HDMI to component converter cable or converter box, or a VGA to component. Here's some options that aren't too expensive: http://www.nextag.com/component-to-hdmi-cable/compare-html HDMI will give you the best video and audio, but it won't be too noticeable of a difference on a 36" tv if you just go with the VGA.
