Is there a difference between using HDMI and VGA cables?
-
I have a VAIO laptop and it does not have an HDMI port. I'm using a VGA cable to connect it to my HD LCD SONEY. Will it make a difference if I get a VGA to HDMI converter and use an HDMI cable, instead of the VGA? Thanks

Answer:
NO it will not, if anything it will degrade the picture as you are placing another piece of electronics into the signal path. Your laptop is outputting an analogue signal which is being converted by the 'Soney'?

All it's going to do is convert the analog signal of VGA to the digital standard of HDMI but that doesn't necessarily mean the picture quality is going to be better. If the VGA cable is working fine with your TV then you really shouldn't waste money on buying a converter unless you need one.
