Why can't I get sound out of my aftermarket radio?

I cant get my surround sound system to work?

  • i just got an rca 5.1 surround sound system with two optical and one coaxial hook up i have tried useing the red/white rca cables into my tv but still nothing its a lcd samsung tv and i cant get this surround sound system to work for the life of me even just the radio i can not get to work im usually good at this kind of stuff but this is driving me crazy!! someone please help!

    does your tv have audio output? if yes, analog or digital? Did you select the correct input in the 5.1 system? Read the manual.

I think you are bit confused about 5.1 surround system. 5.1 surround sound must come from your external speakers thru the surround processor/amplifier (not from TV). TVs normally don’t have optical or coaxial audio outputs. We must get the RCA audio (red/white) output from TV and connect (input) to the 5.1 surround processor (or amplifier). Then its the function of surround processor (or amplifier) to make the stereo (2 channel) to surround (5.1 channels) and output to speakers. Please let me know if this answers your query.
