Connect surround sound system and tv to internet?

I want to connect my surround sound system and tv to the internet. I have wireless but the tv and/or surround system does not pick up the signal and the connection is downstairs so i cant just plug into tv and router. Someone told me i need an ethernet adapter but im not sure what that is, can someone explain and tell me where i can buy. Thanks

Hi Are you trying to stream your video to a different TV via internet? or play music in 2 different places at the same time?
