What video format do portable DVD players play?

Why won't my dvd+r disc play in my dvd player?

  • I burned a movie and used two different discs. I used Memorex DVD+R and Sony DVD-R..I tried playing then in a few DVD players and they wouldn't work...I went to magnavox.com and checked the specifications for two of the DVD players and this is what the specifications were for the DVDs: • Progressive Scan Video Out • Plays DVD Video, DVD+R/RW [VR format], DVD-R/RW [Video format], CD-R/RW, Audio CD, MP3 What am I doing wrong? Is it the wrong type of disc or what? What type of disc or brand would be the best...From a friend of mines experience, she says Sony brand won't play in her DVD player but Memorex will...I also called Magnavox and the lady told me to clean the lense..How much of a difference would that actually make? PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!

  • Answer:

At the end of the recording did you click on close the disk. That finishes the disk to be able to play on other dvd players.

DVD format is VOB, you have to convert your video to DVD compatible video at first, otherwise regular DVD player can not read and play it. If you don't know how to burn a playable DVD, I think this DVD Creator would help you a lot. I always use it to convert and burn movie to DVD to play on my home TV, it's easy to use and works pretty well, if you are interested in it, here is a step by step guide about how to use it.

I recommed you to use Leawo Free DVD Creator.I think it is the easiest software to burn video to dvd i have ever tried. You can find Leawo Free DVD Creator here: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&newwindow=1&q=leawo+dvd+creator&aq=f&aqi=g2&oq= It must can help you, good luck!

I think you can try some good brand disc, such as Verbatim DVD writeable disc is very good, and you should note the burned dvd is right format, because most normal DVD player only recognize the standard video DVD which include VOB, IFO and BUP files, don't recognize the data DVD(directly write movie file on disc), so if you want to burn the movies to DVD and can be played well on normal DVD player, you have to use the right software to burn standard video DVD from your movie, you can try RZ DVD Creator, it can create/burn standard video DVD from any movies, it can directly convert any movies to standard video DVD and burn to any DVD disc(DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc). You can yahoo or google search RZ DVD Creator and download it, easy to use, hope it can help you.
