1) Plenty of Video Editing Set-ups/Studios are there in every city who will charge a very meager amount for all Analog to Digital Transfers. Generally One VHS to One DVD Transfer should cost you around 100 to 300 Rupees depending on the Facility. 2) The DIY approach. Just get hold of any free Video capturing software along with a VHS player in good condition and a computer with Video Capture card (With sufficient Free hard disk space) to do it yourself. A vague peak into the Help section of the software or "how to" search on the internet should guide you well. 3) If you are looking for solutions from a commercial perspective then you can buy the Professional TOSHIBA/SONY/PANASONIC/TASCAM?HITACHI VCRs along with a Professional Video Editing Suite Software like Vegas Pro/Ulead etc & set up a Pro facility for yourself.

Best Results: Use a local company to do the work for you on high quality machines If you plan to do the project yourself, I'd recommend a quality analog to digital converter such as a Canopus which will allow you to capture your tapes directly to your computer. From there you can then edit, burn, and enjoy.

Yes, they do work fine. You can find a VHS and DVD combo, that will play your vhs tape movies and record it to the dvd. Stay with name brand like Panasonic they are the most reliable brand in the market today. Hope this will help you out.

What's the point? Are you retired? The conversion won't make the old movie HD. It's not the money - it's your time. Think how many beer you could be drinking while watching a game on TV or hang out with friends. What's the reward for a low quality DVD that's PG?
