What can I do to set up my speaker system?
-
So not knowing anything about speakers, I bought a used set of Teac 5.1 pl-d100vsw speakers. All that came with them was the power cord for the subwoofer. I want to hook them up to my computer. The guy who sold them to me said that I needed speaker cable to connect the set, so I went to Best Buy. When I explained my situation to an employee, he told me that I also need some central computing system, the cheapest of which they had in stock cost $200! Is this true? Am I screwed? It seems very odd to me that I cannot just hook up the system straight into my computer.

Answer:
first of all does your computer have a audio out jack ? built in power amps, 2 to 5 watts? then get back to me and we'll go from there. do it right and spend the money and you'll be happy with it.
