How can I connect my sony home theater system to my computer by preserving 5.1 surround?
-
I have tried connecting my PC to my home theater system, and it only recognizes 2.0 Stereo. It's getting quite annoying. SPDIF uses 2.0, HDMI uses 2.0, and the only thing i can think of is the 6 3.5mm jacks that can support 5.1....but how do i connect 6 3.5mm jacks to an HDMI plug, an SPDIF plug, and Coax plug??? It's boggling my mind. Any kind of adapters out there that will reserver 5.1? Thanks!

Answer:
Your soundcard or the built-in sound board should be able to produce 5.1 surround since it has spdif and hdmi. Try to configure your sound manager or try to download Realtek HD audio manager. What's the purpose of having hdmi and spdif connections if you cannot utilize 5.1.
