Do blue ray dvds have region codes?

Do Blu-ray players have different region codes like DVDs?

  • I have a Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray player and I'm thinking of ordering a bunch of Blu-ray movies from Amazon. I live in Mexico, so is the region code different here than it is in the US? How do I find out what region my Blu-ray can play?

  • Answer:

yes, different. I think the code is same with your dvd.

Yes. Sometimes. That is, there is a region coding system, but not all discs use it at this time. The regions are also different than those used by DVD. If it the disc is region coded, it'll say so in the description. I believe US and Mexico are in the same region, so you shouldn't have any problems...I think...

Mexico and USA are in the same region (1). Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc

Some Blu-ray discs are region coded and some aren't. As far as I know, all Blu-ray players are encoded. All of North America is in Blu-ray Region A.
