How can i add a sound to alert me of my incoming emails?

Add two speakers to 2.1 sound = Better?

• I bought a 2.1 audio system for a month ago. The two speakers and the sub are connected to a volume control and from there it goes one green 3,5 mm cable to the green port on my computer. If i bought 2 more speakers, could i connect them in my computer to get better sound. I want either of these: 4.1 Surround Sound. or 2.1 Sound but with more speakers (4) so i can play louder. I have a 7.1 sound card. I've also heard that if a put a splitter in the green port and then put my 2.1 sound and the two other speakers there, the sound will also split up, so i will not get louder sound?

  Adding the two speakers will just give each channel an extra speaker to play out of. So instead one channel playing out of it's original speaker, it will not play out of that original speaker as well as the extra speaker that you connect. You'll have to be careful though because if you connect too many speakers to the one speaker output terminal on your computer then you could fry the sound card.. So you'd probably be better off utilizing your 7.1 surround sound card properly.
