Good Cheap Sound System?

What is a good yet cheap home theater surround sound system?

  • I'm looking for a nice, yet affordable surround sound system. $150-200 if at all possible. But I could go up to 300. i have blu-ray player and 1080P television. Now I just need a good sound system.

    Samsung Electronics HT-D550 definitely sounded better once i got it home than it did in the store. This system sets up very easily. The only downfall is the length of speaker wire for the rear speakers. As with any system the wires just aren't long enough. And they have special connectors that plug into the back of the system so I had to cut and splice the wire to make them longer. But other than that this system is WONDERFUL!! Great sound just enough bass.

The Pioneer RX-V371 has plenty of power, plenty of inputs and HDMI switching. It's a few bucks higher than you wanted, but it has everything most people need. The soundbars are all-in one systems designed for people who don't want wires or speakers around the room. They are basically a full range speaker with amp and simulated surround and digital audio input(s) in one box, sometimes two boxes if packed with a subwoofer. Those home theater in a box are not flexible for adding anything to it. It is only designed to watch a movie with surround sound. They do not provide enough power to drive any other speakers except what they came with. The only system I would recommend is the Onkyo HT-S3400, it is a 5.1 receiver and a set of speakers. Demo the system at any Fry's Electronic, which cost just under $400. You can connect your tv and any dvd or blu ray disc player and game console to this. Hope this will help you out.
