What are some British channels on cable?

What don't the channels from our cable company correspond to the actual over the air channels?

• For example, over here, channel 2 is cable channel 5. Channel 9 is cable channel 7. Why do they do that? Why can't they just make channel 2 be on cable channel 2?

• Answer:

  Buckeye Cable, Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio do the same thing. This is done primarily to meet their needs and to eliminate confusion when subscribers call them up and ask silly / obvious questions as to why they can't do this or that... Eventually, all that mess will be straightened out. The steps towards this are already being taken: The big switch to digital, etc. I hope this clears up any confusion you might have.
