How to connect 1 sky+ box to another normal sky box?

Should I connect my optical cable from 5.1 surr sound to sky box or tv?

  • I have just bought a new home cinema 5.1 surr sound system and I need to connect the optical cable and the hdmi cable. I have connected hdmi to the front of the tv as the back hdmi socket is already in use for sky and I have connected the optical cable from dvd to the sky box but not sure if this is correct? Can anyone help? Thanks - I am an absolute amateur as you can gather!

  • Answer:

Connect optical cable directly from Sky box to sound system for audio.

Check how the sound is with the home theater hooked up the way you have it and then move the optical cable from the sky box to the tv and back to the home theater and see if the sound improves. The dvd's sound goes directly to the speakers and doesn't need a connection. All you need is an hdmi cable or s-video from the dvd to the tv for video. By putting the optical cable on the tv's audio output, all devices will now have surround sound. Connect the optical cable to the audio input of the s/s.

Use the Product Manual.. That front HDMI might be a output..not an INPUT.. === Fiber Optics is audio only.. I have a JVC RX-7010V.. It has a single Fiber Optic(output).. But has 3-Fiber Optic(inputs)..with a Digital(Co-AX) === I need to configure--from the front panel of my JVC Reciever/AMP..what the 4-inputs will do//where they will be activated from the Front Panel Selections--TV/SAT...DVD...CD...Tape/VCR… Then I have another Selector Switch--to JOG..between..Analog-Digital So I have CD(analog or digital)..and so on.. === The RCA connection on a digital reciever/amp can not be used in a Y-cable configuration.. There must be a Isolating switch--to assign the cable.. === Fiber Optic can be used with a Y-Connection...that would be a INPUT...into the Reciever/AMP.. At least my JVC will allow the Y-Connector.. === You need to label your Inputs and your Outputs..that's the most confusing point.. Use the Product Manual.
