  • Answer:

Either an opitcal cable or a coaxial cable--depending on what type of output your home theater reciever and Blu-ray player have.

5.1 Requires 6 speakers. Arrange the speakers in the appropriate order and connect them to a Home theater receiver. Connect the Blu Ray Player to the home theater receiver via HDMI cable and run a HDMI Cable from your home theater receiver to your TV. I would recommend Onkyo for your home theater receiver, and Kirksater for your speakers.

Get a receiver and 2 HDMI cables. Connect the blu-ray player to the receiver with one cable, and the receiver to the tv with the other cable.

Connect HDMI from Blu-ray player to receiver if your receiver supports audio via HDMI. Otherwise, connect HDMI from Blu-ray player to TV for video and optical cable from Blu-ray player to system for surround sound.
