How to hook a projector to basic cable?

How to hook up cable through a projector?

  • i want to hook up my cable box to my projector. My cable box only has an out for audio though and a cable out. How would i do this?

  • Answer:

You can not connect your cable box to a projector, projectors does not have a tv tuner for it to display a tv show. They are designed to be connected to a dvd, blu ray disc player, vcr and computer only. They also does not have the capability to accept sound or send out audio signal, that is why it is called a projector. Hope this will help you out.

Sounds like you have a standard def cable box. If the projector doesn't have an F type input (screw in cable) then you may need a new (hd) cable box. Usually there's a composite (yellow rca) output on the cable box and a similar input on the projector. This would let you hook up a rca cable but the quality won't be great (if you care).

Wow must be a really old cable box. I would ask your cable provider to get you a newer cable box maybe even a HD DVR. The newer boxes will at the very least have component video output and preferably HDMI out. Kevin 354 years hi-end audio video specialist
