How can you record clear and crisp sounding vocals?

• How can you record clear and crisp sounding vocals with a mic on a computer? I am a newbie at all this stuff about amps and any other things like that. So I have NO idea about any of it. I have a usb mic that I plug into my usb hub on the front of my computer. I use I program I bought for like 100 dollars along with my mic. The program is called "Session" and the mic is an m audio mic. When I record, it always sounds a bit muffled. I don't understand why. Is there a way to get it to sound crisp and clear when recording vocals? I love recording my own karaoke versions of songs, but the vocals always sound muffled. I also do voice acting, and once again, they sound muffled. My mic isn't a junky cheap mic. Compared to others I have used, this one has been the best for me. Can someone explain to me how to make the vocals sound clear?

  you can try equalizing your mic with the software that you have, but that will only help so much. And trust me, any microphone you plug n using the usb port is a crappy microphone. You may think you paid a lot for it, but if you want really clear vocals you need to buy a nice audio interface with XLR inputs and then buy a nice legit microphone.
