My home theater system will not work?

I need help to get my home theater system to work!?

  • Okay my ps3 and tv only has a optical audio output and my home theater has only rca inputs. So I ordered a cable that has a Standard TOSLink Plug on one end and 3.5MM Optical Plug on the other, then another cable a 3.5MM female mini jack and the other end 2 rca. Will that work? Home theater experts? Anyone can help? Thank you.

  • Answer:

Nope, you need a digital to analog converter to go from toslink or digital coaxial to RCA input... Use the audio (RCA) from the PS3 straight into the receiver and the video up to the TV. At least you have the game through the stereo for now..... Upgrade your receiver to something with optical.... This will give you digital surround sound.... craigslist had one I bought for 40 bucks and it was a Yamaha.....needed it only to play simple directv in surround sound but it did the trick. CI
