  • i have L G 42"LCD t v placed in the corner of a room 25'x15'. request guidance for putting a speaker system to go with this

    The speaker system should less depend on the screen and more on the dimensions of your room.. if your room is too small a 2.1 would be sufficient . but a room of about 10*10*10ft would accommodate a 5.1 system and a room of about 15*15*15 would go for a 7.1 for more reality you should have te perfect decoders installed .. i have build my own 7.1 and it works great for me .. for more details mail me at rkp.sreepadmam @ gmail.com

For a room that large you would need a pretty good speaker system. While corner placement of the screen seems to work pretty well for video it tends to create many problems for audio. But here goes for a thumbnail sketch of speaker placement. The center speaker goes either above or below your screen. The main right and left speakers go to either side of your screen. The surround speakers should go on the sides of the room up high and slightly behind your sitting location. If you are running a 7.1 system the back surround speakers go behind you. A note on 7.1 (or 7.2) systems. Unless you are a big time gamer or have a Blu-Ray player there is extremely little content available in 7.1 format Why? Because most movie theaters have 5.1 systems so most movies are published in 5.1 format. Also if a 5.1 system will work in a movie theater it will work well in any size room in a home.

You need to change the placing of your LCD to center of either of the walls to get the best effect of the surround sound/dolby from your Home theater
