What is a good DVD recorder?

Good DVD RECORDER to Record Hi-Definition w/ HDMI?

  • I'm so confused. I need a DVD Recorder to burn programs I've recorded TO my DVR. The programs have already been digitally recorded in High-Definition directly onto my DVR HD Cable Box. Btw, the output for my cable box is HDMI. Now, all I need to do is burn them to disc. When I look for DVD Recorders, some don't even *say* they record.. they just say things like... DVD *PLAYER* with Upscaling (or) DVD *PLAYER* with Upconverting (or) DVD Recorder.... and nothing about Upscaling or Upconverting Can someone recommend a good DVD Recorder w/HMDI that won't degrade my Hi-Def cable box recordings.. but KEEP them in High-Def? (without spending crazy money) Thanks

  • Answer:

Can't be done without bypassing the copy inhibit flag that comes out of your cable box's hdmi port. That's why you can't find BluRay or DVD recorders with HDMI inputs (only HDMI outputs), because the studios that own the rights to the material don't want people to be able to burn disks of hi def programming.
