How can I hook up my PS3 to speakers?

I bought a monitor to hook up my PS3 to, but it doesn't have speakers. What are my options?

  • My monitor is a Samsung XL2370. Should I buy speakers? What kind of speakers should I buy and where would they plug in to? Would my monitor have some kind of jack? And what kind should I expect?

    You need a receiver. You can connect the speakers and PS3 to the speakers and use an HDMI cable to connect the receiver to the monitor.

That monitor has a DVI port. You're going to need an HDMI to DVI cable or just an HDMI cable with a HDMI/DVI adapter. Thats the video. Audio is going to come from your PS3, I'd recommend using the optical port. Plug in a toslink cable to the ps3, plug the other end into a audio receiver with an optical port. Set up some 5.1 speakers. That's the audio.

You can but computer speakers and would have to have an adapter to do that.

Sorry to say this but...Imagine you just bought a Ferrari and want to install cheap Tire Kingdom tires and put regular gas in the tank? You need a HD TV and a 5.1 surround sound system to get the best of your PS3, after that install a wireless router to connect PS3 online.
