What is the best home theater surround system?

What home theater surround system should I buy?

  • Help, I don't know what I'm doing, and I feel I may be making the wrong decision. I've been looking at the Bose Lifestyle® 38 and the Lifestyle® 35. The only issue is I'm getting yelled at by all of my friends (who by the way, don't have any better suggestions). I'd like something comparable to the Lifestyle system but would like to pay less than the $2699.00 price tag it comes along with. I only watch movies (in HD no T.V.) and listen to music. Gotta love that music! Oh, btw, I'm really not apposed to having the wireless option that Bose has, but I'm not picky. Any advice? Thank you in advance!

    you have good friends who are watching out for you, BOSE makes some really poor quality sepakers for the price you can get much better stuff. I suggest bigger speakers for music, heres a nice stereo for you. Bose is nothing more than expensive hype. Go to a "high end" stereo store and start listening. You may be surprised by what you'll find there besides salespeople who know what they're talking about.

You have good friends. Bose is a low-end product marketed and priced as a high-end one. Those who think Bose is good are people who do not know about high-end audio and who are sold on the clever marketing Bose does. You can get a system for less than half the price of the lifestyle systems that will absolutely put Bose to shame. I sold Bose alongside other systems for over 10 years and really do know what I am talking about here. This is a good time to buy right now because Boston Acoustics (a very good brand -- much better than Bose) has released some overstocked speakers in dark cherry at an incredible reduction. You can match these up with the best bargain in quality subwoofers, HSU. The receiver to get right now is the Onkyo TX SR605. It is a fine quality receiver and it is ahead of the other brands just now in new features. i've got the Bose 3-2-1 system (about $1000) and it is well worth the money. My music is crisp and my HD sounds great too. Just a lower price option for you.

bose is the best. if you have the cash, go for it.

I would scrap the Bose idea and look at Phillips. I think Phillips is of much better quality and less money for a really good system that you won't outgrow!
