The simple answer is your receiver accepts a jack from only a powered subwoofer. Your description tells me your subwoofer is not powered, meaning it does not have a power amplifier built in. What you can do: 1. Buy an external amplifier solely for your subwoofer, or 2. Buy a powered subwoofer. Does your subwoofer accept two inputs and have two outputs? If it has two inputs and two outputs your subwoofer has a built in crossover. Here is what to do: 1. Determine if you want your front or rear speakers on your receiver to have a subwoofer. 2. Connect the speaker wires for the two channels you selected between your receiver and the input terminals on your subwoofer. 3. Connect your speakers to the output terminals on your subwoofer. Be sure your subwoofer has a power rating at least that of your receiver (100 watt sub should not be driven with a 200 watt amplifier). If you are unsure of part b provide me with the make and model of your sub and I will see if I can locate its manual and take a look-see.

is it an active or passive sub-woofer? active sub-woofers needs electrical power to work then check your owner's manual on page 19 for set up. if you have a passive sub woofer,it should have a line in and line out speakers port. depending on how many speakers you have, connect them by connecting speaker wire" line" out from your receiver then connecting them on" line in" for the sub-woofer.the "line out "from the sub-woofer will then be connected to the speakers.follow the positive and negative (+, - ) terminals or damage can result to your receiver.

The best way to hook up your subwoofer is to use a line-level subwoofer cable (with the RCA plugs on each end). What you see on your receiver is actually an output to the sub. If your subwoofer only has speaker level inputs you can still incorporate it into your system. There are usually two ways to do this. Subs with speaker level inputs also usually have speaker level outputs to the L&R mains. The output from this connection usually has been through a crossover and only carries midrange and above. This is a fine option if your mains are very small. If they are moderate size or bigger I would recommend you hookup the mains in the normal way and go to your sub from the speaker "B" output from the receiver. That way you get the most you can from your mains.

it is a output of the sub, run a RCA cable too it this is only works if you have a powered subwoofer, if you are useing a non powered one this is how you hook it up

i confirm that your sub may not be powered be careful not to exceed your receivers output limits.
