How to connect woofer to my hi-fi?

How do I connect my foxtel audio RCA or AV plugs into my HiFi audio in slot?

  • I tried to connect the RCA output of my foxtel's RCA plugs into my SONY HiFi system, using a RCA to 3.5mm headphone jack socket but the sound is really dodge... there seems to be some kind of squeeking sound coming from the speakers and I have to pull the 3.5 mm jack slightly out of the socket for it to work.. I have used my Ipod with the Audio in feature before and sound worked great, but i just cant get the hifi to play nice with foxtel audio out... It also seems that some channels work and others don't.. and the squeeking that i mentioned only seems to happen when someone is talking.. If you have any experience or have done this yourself your advice you would really be appreciated..

  • Answer:

I would check if the 3.5mm plug fits in the socket properly. If not get another connection. One suggestion is a cord which has a 3.5mm plug at one end and 2 RCA sockets at the other end. However, I have only seen 6.5mm plugs so you may need a 6.5mm to 3.5mm converter as well. The other option is a cord with a 3.5mm plug on one end and 2 RCA plugs on the other end, you will need a gender changer for this (to convert the RCA plugs into sockets). Hope this helps!!!!!
