Questions about Home Theater System setup?

Your question is confusing in that is sounds like your wanting to connect your sources straight to the tv that will not give you surround sound. If your wanting to know how to connect to a surround system, Receiver/amp and surround speaker system then there is a completely different way of connecting this. Components: Receiver (surround preamp/amp/tuner, 5.1 speaker system, sources) Ideally you will want a Receiver that has HDMI input switching and HDMI output. Connect HDMI to inputs on Receiver, to HDMI output to TV that's it. Simple easiest and best picture quality. If your don't have a Receiver with HDMI Switching then it gets much more complex: Hdmi inputs to tv, audio digital connections to inputs on Receiver. You will then need to program remote to properly sync the sources video to the receivers corresponding sources. If your components have coaxial digital outputs and the Receiver has coaxial digital inputs use them they are much better sounding then the toslink digital connections. Many will tell you theres no difference and they are completely wrong. Digital is not just digital on there is a difference in the quality of digital connections, as well as the the cable itself. Higher price does not guarantee you higher quality sound, read reviews from the better magazines like perfect vision, absolute sound, widescreen review as they are much more knowledgeable and review better equipment.
