Connecting a new dvd player to TV?

I was connecting my old dvd player to my new tv , but i can only get sound. They're are only 2 wires rednwhite?

  • The back of the dvd player has the yellow hole that says video so i put the red one in and tried all the slots on my tv, none worked for video . Both white n red work for audio though. Does it matter what color the wire is for audio / video? or are both conductors. Can post pictures if needed. Helppp basically . Does red go to red and white to white? or what.

  • Answer:

You have to connect composite cables ( yellow for video and red & white for audio ) output from DVD player to TV input for video and audio.

Look at your new tv in the back for the video connection. If you mentioned the brand and model i could have probably tell what type you have. Also you can open your owners manual and see. More than likely you have an HDMI or component video connection. Look at the dvd player and see what other video connection it has, beside the composite you are trying to use (red and white for audio only left and right channel, the yellow is for the video only). Again check your owners manual, you might have a component video connection also (3 rca jack color coded in red, blue and green). Hope this will help you out.
