What are the red and black audio cables called?
-
I'm trying to buy a subwoofer for my ancient speaker set. It still uses the red and black cables that you lift a tab and you stick the exposed wire into. I need to know what they're called so I know the compatibility of the speakers.

Answer:
The exposed wire you put into the tabs is standard speaker wire. There are several gauges of speaker wire (thicker/lower gauge is better) but it is basically made the same. The red is the positive side and black is the negative side of the speaker wire.
