What is a good lamp-free projector?

Am i better off just upgrading to a 2d 1080p projector and miss out on 3d or should i for now purchase another?

  • I want to upgrade to a 1080p projector (optoma hd200x) but i feel i will be missing out on 3d if i upgrade to a 1080p 2d projector only. Ideally I would like a 1080p projector that offer both world of 2 and 3 d's. However, 1080p 3d projectors are expensive at the moment and there is lack of 3d contents to justify the cost of buying 1080p 3d projector. I have sold my current 720p projector to fund the upgrade so need a replacement Am i better off just upgrading to a 2d 1080p projector and miss out on 3d or should i for now purchase another 720p projector that enables 2d / 3d viewing (optoma hd67n, hd66) still the price of 1080p 3d projector comes down and more 3d content is available Thank you guys in advance !!

  • Answer:

You have a bit of a dilemma. The logical answer is to buy a "reasonable" 2D 1080p projector now and aim to buy a 3D capable replacement in a couple of years when the technology has stabilized (a bit more). I personally can't see buying a 3D projector now when there is limited program material, prices are coming down fast, there is uncertainty about which technology will win out, etc. But that's MY view, based on my priorities. Yours may differ. The links below may be useful to read before deciding. Note the imminent arrival of the Epson 3D 1080p Home Cinema 3010 ... $1600 with 2 pairs of 3D glasses ... which might be of interest. Good luck.
