How do I hook up speakers to my TV?

How do I hook up my Bose Acoustimass 7 Speakers to a Yamaha RX-V596 Receiver with a Sony KDL-46XBR2 TV?

  • I am currently attempting to hook up my Bose Acoustimass 7 Speakers to a Yamaha RX-V596 receiver. I am pretty sure that I did everything correctly from hooking up the speakers to the receiver, but I am not sure what I did wrong when I hooked up my receiver to my Sony KDL-46XBR2 TV. I hooked up the speaker wire from the cube speakers to the bass module to the receiver without any problems. I am not so sure if I hooked up the receiver to TV correctly. When I attempt to use the surround sound system, the speakers have a humming sound. The remote control for the receiver also does not work properly, I do not know why, even though I just put new batteries into it. When I try to adjust the bass and treble on the receiver, nothing seems to happen to the sound. Also, when I turn the volume, turning the volume down actually turns the volume up, and vise versa. Please give me any thoughts or ideas that you may have. Thank you very much.

  • Answer:

I have my bose acoustimass 10 hooked to my receiver which is also a Yamaha, Then I hooked my TV to my receiver using a Optical cable. What are you using to hook to your TV? Sounds like something might be hooked up wrong? If your receiver on the right input? DVD, AUX, TV. If your sure everything hooked-up right, Try changing the cord/cable your using from your TV to the Reciever. And if your not using a Optical cable, check them out.
