Which DVD players are compatible with burnt DVD's?

Burnt dvd's wont play properly on both dvd players?

  • I have burned two DVDs, one on DVD+R and another on DVD-R, and both seem to have the same problem. On my ps2 the movie plays, the the audio gets cut out every so often randomly. And on the other dvd player it reads it but never gets farther than that, it just stays on the main dvd screen. I use Xilisoft AVI to DVD converter to burn my DVDs. What my be the problem? Im thinking its the dvd players, because on my computer they play just fine. Thanks

DVD format is VOB, you have to convert your video to DVD compatible video at first, otherwise standard DVD player can not read and play it. If you don't know how to burn a playable DVD, I'd like to recommend this DVD creator to you. I always use it to convert and burn movie to DVD to play on my home TV, it's easy to use and works pretty well, if you are interested in it, here is a step by step guide about how to use it. http://www.best-dvd-burning-software.com/how-to-burn-avi-divx-movie-to-playable-dvd.html Hope it helps, email me if you need further help

It could be some settings you used to burn the DVDs with. Computers will play just about anything, but DVD players are incredibly fussy.

Have a look at the manual of your DVD player or check it out online. The officially recognized media format for DVD are DVD-ROM, DVD-R and DVD-RW. DVD+R and DVD+RW are additional formats better suited for computer data, and were never recognized by the DVD governing body. Many DVD players will play all for formats, some will play only the official format DVD-ROM, DVD+R and DVD+RW; so that could explain why the DVD+R disc doesn't work. There are some DVD players that will only play DVD-ROM media, (DVD-ROM is prerecorded store DVD titles, that have been mass produced). Check your player to see what formats it can handle. The other issue may be the speed you ripped the DVDs at. I have found with high speed burners that if you record at the highest speed, the disc doesn't always work in another player. Try burning at a slower speed like 12X of even 8X, this may solve your problem.
