Why isn't my VGA cable working?

VGA to Av cable not working?

  • I recently bought a VGA to AV cable off eBay so i could watch my movies from my laptop on my TV. I just got it today and it isnt working. First of all the 3 AV plugs on it are blue, green and red so im confused about which goes where so I have swapped them all around with no luck. When I try to use this cable i just get a blank screen with fuzzy lines like you would on a tv with no aerial plugged in. Ive tried changing the display settings on my laptop and have had no luck. Can someone please help me with this? :)

    To connect to the TV, it needs to be able to accept component in. The TV should have matching Red / Green / Blue sockets on it or ones marked Y / Pb / Pr. You can't connect them to the composite Red / White / Yellow sockets as they are incompatable, and the R/W sockets are for audio. If it can't accept component in, then you have the wrong cable. You need some kind of a converter box to make it work the cable alone will not work...Some projectors have a VGA connection for video and that is what those cables are for but they will not work on most computers.

These cables work only if your video card can output YPbPr over VGA - possible, but rare. Return it.

Throw it away if you can't get your money back. You've been taken.
