How do I connect my DVD recorder to Direct TV?

How can i connect my sony dvd recorder to my direct tv satellite reciever?

    First, this only works if the program is not copy protected! If the satellite receiver has a S-video output and the dvd recorder has a S-video input, connect these 2 together with a S-video cable. If not, you'll have to use the 'composite video' connectors (yellow) on both units. Finally you'll have to connect the audio out of the receiver to the audio in on the recorder. Make sure you connect right to right (red) and left to left (white). A DVR (like TiVo) does that for you more easily. I have a TiVo that came with 40 hours of recording time, and I upgraded it to 212 Hours (from a 40GB HDD to two 120GB HDDs). Now I keep movies I can't get on DVD yet, on there. Already have about 70 movies that way Good luck.

Connecting your DVD recorder to your satellite receiver should be a simple procedure. One way is to hook up via your coaxial cable, just hook up on your receivers cable output to your recorders cable input. Another way is to hook via the video/audio cables . Just hook your receivers video/audio outputs to your recorders video/audio inputs, and you should be good to go.

On the Back of the direct tv box are outputs. there is only two inputs and they are both coaxial. The ones you have to screw on. The back of your DVD has inputs and outputs. The output is for what it plays and u want to watch so it goe to your tv. The Inputs are for what it wants to see to record. This can be in S-video , RGB phono plugs or red white and yellow phono plugs. Depending what you have on the back of Sat. Box. I am guessing that you could use RED (right sound) WHITE (left sound) YELLOW (video) From back of satalite and into the same thing (INPUTS) on the back of the DVD
