How can we mount surround sound speakers on the wall?

Looking for speaker connector that is flush mount on the wall with no wall plate?

  • My husband wants a little plug in to plug the surround sound speakers in the wall, however every single one I show him he says is not what he wants. He says its a little plug that you can screw into the wall and when you put the speakers up on the wall, you can plug the red and black wires right into this little outlet. He does not want one that has a wall plate on it and it has to have the red and black clasps (sorry I do not know terminology) to clasp the wires in. He just wants a small connector that goes into the wall and is flush mount. Does anyone know what he is looking for? I have been searching on google for awhile and have shown him plenty of pictures and nothing is right.

This is a long shot but the way you talk about a "clasp" to hold the wires is he maybe looking for a spring-clip connector plate like you would use on a self-built speaker box? Here's a link to what one looks like. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120TCRS/Metra-Speaker-Terminal.html?tp=1358 . This is just one example; there are some out there that have narrower flanges on them. The clasps themselves are flush with the wall and the flange would protrude maybe 1/8 of an inch. These are also made in rectangular configurations. Sorry if this is not what he had in mind but your terminology led me to believe that this product might be a possibility. Good Luck.

Kinda tough, but I'll weigh in. I would tell him that the best bet would use 1/4" female at / in the wall and the male to the speaker. 'Clasping' wires is a royal pain in the grommet, especially if you for some reason have to change them on a chair or a step ladder, and one hand to hold the speaker; the other to plug in the speaker.
