Can a ps3 blu-ray player play hd dvd's?

No. The PS3 can play normal DVD's and blu-ray's but not HD-DVD's. This isn't a problem for many people as HD-DVD's are being phased out. Hope i was of help.

PS3 can only play blu-ray and normal dvd. To play HD dvd you'll need an HD dvd player. HD player has been off the market for over 8 months.

The drive in the Ps3 cannot play HD-DVD but the PS3 can technically play the material on a HD-DVD disc to do this you will need to alter the container (evo) on the HD disc to one of m2ts, ts or mp4 o a computer HDD & playback from the PS3 HDD or stream over a network. This obviously requires you to have a HD-DVD capable drive in your PC (LG H20 supports both Blu Ray & HD-DVD) to first rip the disc & the PS3 can only play Dolby Digital sound from the hard drive/network so chances are this will need converting from the origional on the disc. This is a round about way of doing things but it does work, would take about 30 mins to sort it out. Cheers, Jo
