Connecting Tv, Cable Box and DVD-Surround Sound?
-
I bought a new dvd player which came with surround speakers. I hooked up the dvd and the speakers and they work fine. The thing is I want my television to work thru the surround speakers too. So when im watching tv i want to hear the sound thru the surround sound speakers not the tv speakers. So i have a Tv, the actual Dvd itself and a digital cable box and i have NO IDEA what to do! Can someone please tell me what to do and please try to say it in a simple way i dont like the whole "big words" thing.

This worked for me, but it will only work for you if your DVD player (or receiver) has input terminals. I assume that you have the RCA cables(Red, White, and Yellow cables) running from your cable box to your TV. You can buy another set of RCA audio cables (just the red and white), which is very cheap. Plug one end of those into the audio output of your cable box, and the other end into one of the inputs on the back of the reciever/DVD player. Hope it works

You should be able to run audio out of the cable box into the receiver that powers the speakers. If that doesn't work you should be able to run audio out of the TV.
By DVD player with speakers, I think you mean a Home Theater in a Box where the DVD drive is built into a receiver/amp. Does the cable box have RCA Audio Outputs on the back of it (red and white jacks, ignore the yellow one)? If so, you could run a set of cables from that to the Aux or TV input of the DVD/Amp. Also, if the TV has RCA Outputs (Red and White Jacks, should say Out) you could use that if the cable box does not.

Okay, heres what I did to connect my TV to the Music system ( or surround system according to you) There should be an input in the DVD player something called VCR EXT or try input if you have that. Take output audios from your TV and connect the cables in to your DVD system (in the input slot). There should be an option on the DVD player somewhere where you can choose the mode. Check the manual and see what it is named under. Select that option and switch on the TV and have fun!
