Need help picking the best surround sound system for my home.?
-
I just bought a 73" Mit DLP and I need a surround sound system. Thing is, I don't know if it would be better to get a HtiB or just build a set. I have a pretty big living room. It's L shaped, connected to the dining room. It's about 22 - 24 ft long and about 15 ft wide. The ceiling is really tall and half cathedral style (slants up). needless to say, there is a lot of open space. I'm looking for a 5.1 system with a budget of about $400 - $600. I want surround sound for movies and games. I will want to hook up my cable receiver, my Xbox 360 and my PS3 all with HDMI. I don't need or want a receiver that has a DVD or Blu-ray player since my 360 and PS3 can handle those. Any suggestions?

Answer:
I just brought the same TV (73" Mitsubishi DLP). I also brought with it a Samsung 5.1 Blu-Ray HTiB. This system is great and it allows streaming of Netflix. My room is smaller then yours, but this system plays loudly at about 33% volume. I have my PS3 and the audio outputs on the TV connected to this Onkyo also makes great HTiBs

go to wal-mart and buy your system there. the price isn't that bad. look around and you'll find one that you could pick up for easily for less then $600. now i dont' know if need a dvd player. are you telling that your PS3 can't handle a blu-ray movie. its a blu-ray player. you should have it checked out. because it should be able to play them. mines can!!

Im not sure if this will be powerful enough (1000watt) but this one here is what Sony is calling blu-ray ready which means you get the receiver and the speakers but you don't get a player (blu-ray or DVD). It leaves you to get it yourself. You already have one so you can just hook it up to the system and your away. It also has plenty of connections (HDMI & Digital) but unfortunately no analogue connections. Take a look: http://www.sony.co.uk/product/hcs-cinema-surround-kit/ht--ss360 Its £450 but you can get it cheaper online. As you are American you will be able to get it cheaper than anywhere on the UK market.
