How do I get rid of subwoofer fuse?

I have a KLH PSW8-100 Subwoofer. The power light comes on, but I get no sound. What could be wrong? A fuse?

  • Answer:

Most subwoofers have a gain control for the amplifier - check to make sure it is turned up. Next check the audio input - use headphones to see if there is a signal coming down the cable that plugs into the subwoofer. if everything else checks OK, then there may be a failure within the subwoofer. There could be a fuse blown - either in the AC power coming into the sub, or in the amplifier output going to the speaker. You can check the speaker voice coil resistance with a multimeter - it should be less than 10 ohms. Unplug everything from the sub before going inside.

I own a KLH subwoofer and I know what the problem is. There is a small defect in the subwoofer. You need to cut a wire connecting to a transister inside the subwoofer. Call up KLH and they will walk you through what you need to do. Before, it kept blowing out the fuse. I replaced and it blew it in about 20 seconds. But after the fix no blown fuses and it works fine.
