How do you hook a blu-ray player up to a laptop to watch a movie on the laptop screen?

My laptop has an hdmi cable, but I can't make it play the movie. I'm tying to hook it up through usb cables but that doesn't seem to be working either. PLEASE HELP!!!

your laptop has an hdmi cable? that doesn't make any sense. it may have an hdmi output port, but i doubt it has an hdmi input port.

Your computer is a source signal. It sends out signals, but cannot take it in. You have the option to send out a signal from your computer to a receiver or television, but you cannot do it in reverse.

This is not possible. Even if your graphics card has an HDMI slot, it's considered an output, not an input.
