Why isn't movie DVD working in any dvd player?

  • I work in a video store where we have several copies Rush Hour 3. Many people rent it, bring it back, and tell me it doesn't work, so I send them home with another copy of the same movie. They bring it back again, only minutes later and say the second copy did the same thing. So I tried it in the DVD Player at work... and this is what happens: I insert a flawless Rush Hour 3 dvd. Blue screen says Loading.... then the loading icon goes away. now just a blank blue screen..... a minute later, I mess with the buttons a bit, (pause, stop, play etc.) a blank pink screen pops up... mess with the buttons a bit more... nothing. I try to eject the movie, and nothing happens. finally after 2 or 3 minutes, the dvd player shuts down by itself. I've only tried 2 different copies in the same DVD player. So Im not sure if they are ALL like that. This has happened with other dvd's in the store as well. What's wrong? How can we prevent it in the future?

    Assuming that the copies are mint with no scratches and dirt, It is possible that the copies you have may have come from a batch that could've slipped quality control. You should get your management to contact the supplier of the discs to exchange the defective copies for new ones. Prove to management the problem by trying out the discs on several different players.

This probably won't be very helpful, but certain DVDs that posed problems in my first player posed none at all in a far better player I had access to. However, a disc that was improperly authored or improperly coded might not play back in any player at all. Try to contact the manufacturer or the studio. Surely the people in charge would want to know when their products are defective.
