What to buy for a Home Theater System?

  • I have a 47" inch 1080p TV, and a PS3, as well as a Digital HD Cable Box. I would like to hook the TV, and the PS3 at the least to a Home Theater System with like a 5.1 setup, but I don't know what to buy, as I am an IT guy, but never really dealt with home audio. Please let me know what I need to hear my PS3, and Television in 5.1? Also, let me know if there is a home theater that accepts an INPUT from a PC, but will also work with a PS3, and TV all simultaneously.

Go to Fry's Electronics and look at the Onkyo HT-S5200 a receiver 7.1 and 7.1 speaker set all for under $500. You can hook up everything you have to it and you are also ready for the Blue Ray disc 7.1 surround sound.

Sorry but the I would suggest HT-S6100 for numerous reason. You are an IT guy so I'm pretty sure you are well aware of cnet review plug in the HT-S6100 and you will see why. the most noticeable is you have a ps3 that plays true hd and dolby master audio this decodes it. this has 4 hdmi plug where you can plug in your ps3, and hd cable box. regarding the pc connection you can plug your pc thru rca and will still work you can get a vga thru hdmi converter and later down the road if you get a laptop which has hdmi you can just connect it directly with just 1 cable. the price is only 50.00 more which is 550. link is provided below, but shop around like on slickdeals or dealnews to see if you can get it better deal, try also the onkyo site they have an outlet you might get lucky http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/501799052/onkyo-ht-s6100?s_c=site_search hope this helps
