How to set up surround sound speakers to a TV?

How do I set up my TV Volume to come out of my Surround sound speakers?

• I have a Fisher TV and a Kirsch Sound system. My DVD player is already hooked up to the sub and works perfect with my speakers. Now when I hooked up the red cord to the back of the TV and sub...Nothing. I'm pretty sure I put them in the right Out and Input slots. Help!!!!!

  Sorry, but you haven't provided enough info for a precise answer. You don't give model numbers, don't say what kind of Klipsch speaker system, don't mention an amplifier or receiver, don't specify what type of inputs and outputs or cables are available or are being used, and talk about connecting to a "sub" (which doesn't make much sense. Similarly I don't know what you mean by "red cord". However, here's some basic info. First I don't know how you tune in TV. If cable or antenna to a TV, then you need to connect an audio out jack on the TV to an empty input port on the Klipsch system. If you use a cable box or satellite receiver there will be an audio out port on that and it can feed the Klipsch. However, the foregoing only applies if your Klipsch surround system is self-powered (i.e. has a built in amp), if it's connected to a receiver or amplifier then the audio feed goes to that, not the speakers. As to type of connection (cable type), the best option is optical or coax digital, but if the TV only has analog (a mini stereo jack or RCA jack(s)) then you will be limited to stereo sound (or if the system has surround decoder built in, maybe to matrix surround. Sorry, this is somewhat confusing, but there are lot's of options and you didn't provide any detail. I may come back and try to focus this if you provide more detail.
