What is a good speaker system to buy?

I have a samsung le46c750 tv. What speaker system should i buy to go with it?

  • I already have a 3d blu-ray player, so i would prefer all my money to go directly on the speakers. Should i also buy a seperate Amp. My total budget is £200-£400. Any other suggestions are welcome as to best spend my money on getting a great sound system for my house.

Anything you buy for £200 - £400 is going to be cheap and nasty. If you genuinely want "...a great sound system", the minimum you need to spend is £500. "Surely when i hook up the speakers to my Blu-ray/TV, then they will act as the AMP?" No, they will not. Most stereo and home cinema speakers are passive. That means they need power from an amplifier, in order to make them work. If you don't have an amplifier, you won't get any sound. Apart from anything else, you cannot connect speakers directly to a Blu-Ray player, because Blu-Ray players don't have speaker outputs.
