My blu ray player isn't working?

How to get my blu-ray player working again?

  • I recently received a blu-ray player thrown in with a tv that I bought (philips - model number BDP7200, I think). I got it set up and managed to put in a couple of discs to test it out, but haven't actually watched a film the whole way through. Yesterday, I went to watch a film, but the unit wouldn't respond. The light on the power button went out when I pressed it and has not come back. I unplugged it, changed sockets - no response. Unplugged it and left it alone overnight - still no response. The troubleshooter guide in the booklet that comes with it doesn't cover this, so hope that someone out there can help out without the need to go back to the people I got this from. I have checked all leads are connected properly, but I don't have another device that the power lead could go into to test if that's the problem. All over devices (the cable box, dvd, tv and video player) are working properly.

    You could fool around with various things, but It's new, so take it back and get the store to try it and either fix the problem or provide a replacement under warranty.

Take it back, before you void the warranty. When it's free normally they are low quality and reliability. Philips is not a name brand tv with good quality and reliability. Stay with name brans like Sumsang, Panasonic, Pioneer, Sony and Toshiba they have better quality and reliability with good service support when you need them.

I would start with calling the mfg and talk to them, and if it was not something simple take that sucker back where you got it. I have no problem with taking anything back within the 30 days if there is 1 single problem, let them deal with it.

Go in and exchange it for another one. The one you have had bugs in it. Keep in mind that some newer Blu-Ray releases may need the player have have its firmware upgraded to play the movie. Happy viewing!
