Best wireless sound system for under $50?

I am wanting to purchase a Surround sound system for my 50" TV. What would you recommend in the $200-$300.?

  • I would like the four corner speakers plus the sub-woofer and a good DVD tuner system.....5.1 and of course the more watts I can get for the buck would be great.

  • Answer:

For a TV that size you should be considering a Blu-ray player. Regardless of whether you go with DVD or Blu-ray you should buy a surround sound system that is not based on the player. You want a receiver-based system. $300 won't buy you much, but at that price range you'll get the most for your money with an Onkyo system. http://www.us.onkyo.com/prod_class.cfm?class=Systems You could buy a factory recertified model and use the money you save toward a Blu-ray player. http://www.ecost.com/Detail/HTIB/Onkyo/HTS4100S+REF/42799990.aspx?navid=155438250

If your are going to spend anywhere from $200-$300 dollars on a home theater in the box system, then you are actually going to waste your money as you will get unenjoyable home theater sound. Also, with a HDTV screen of that size, no home theater in the box system will cut it, as you will need to look for seperates components--good ones--so it can match up to the experience of that type of a size HDTV screen. Only a very good home theater in the box system will only work with HDTVs from 46-inch down to 40-inch; however, they don't make any good to great home theater systems anymore.
